Yummy Strawberry Lime Slush

It's fun to make drinks in the blender, especially when it's hot outside.  It was really hot - about 90 outside - when my friends came for my cooking slumber party, so we made this yummy drink with fresh strawberries and lime juice.  It's really easy and really good.

Ingredients and Equipment Needed:

2 pints fresh strawberries, stems removed
3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 1/2 cups crushed ice

Paring knife
Cutting Board
Rubber Scraper
Glasses to serve

How to Make Strawberry Lime Slush:

1.  Wash the strawberries, then drain all of the water off.  It's easiest if you use a colander.  Here we are all getting ready to slice the berries.  We have cutting boards ready so that we don't ruin the countertop.  You should always use a cutting board when you cut things.    2.  First cut off the stem, then turn the strawberry and slice it so that the slices are shaped like hearts.  3.  Cut the lime in half.  You will; probably need just 1 lime for the 3 tablespoons of juice.  Make sure you wash the lime before cutting it.

4.  Put the sliced strawberries in the blender.

5.  There are several gadgets that you can use to squeeze the lime juice into the blender.  I'm using a reamer, but you can just squeeze the lime with your hands, or you can use a citrus juicer. 6.  Paige is adding the powdered sugar.  This recipe calls for 1/2 cup.  If the strawberries aren't very sweet, then you may need to add a little more.  Also add the ice. 7.  Put the lid on the blender.  Make sure it's tight; you don't want stuff spraying all over the kitchen.

8.  Turn the blender on and let it run until the mixture is smooth.  You'll need to turn it off once and scrape down the sides.

9.  Here we are with the finished slush.  It tastes really good; that's why we are all smiling!
